Harpa's Crystal Facade

Harpa, Reykjavik’s stunning new Concert Hall and Conference Centre features a stunning façade, designed by the renowned Danish artist Olafur Eliasson and Henning Larsen Architects.  Harpa will be home to the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the Icelandic Opera. According to the Music Director, Steinunn Ragnarsdóttir “Harpa will add a new and exciting dimension to Icelandic cultural life” The multi-faceted glass façade was designed to be reminiscent of Iceland’s crystallised basalt columns. The striking geometric design creates kaleidoscopic reflections of the city and the surrounding landscape, changing in colour, opacity and reflectivity with the natural light. The building was designed by the renowned European architectural firm Henning Larsen Architects and Batteríið.
