Project

Bus Terminal Doncaster Vic Roads had a new initiative in association with the Victorian Government. The initiative was to encourage commuters in the outer eastern suburbs who travel to the city, to park their cars at a secure long term car park and take a bus into the city. The route was along the Eastern freeway which has a special bus lane enabling a speedy and uninterrupted journey for all passengers. Vic Roads are experienced at designing and building Roads but required some assistance in designing buildings. A Bus Terminal was required for the site in addition to the very large secure car parking spaces to be provided for commuters located at the junction of the Eastern Freeway and Doncaster Road. The brief called for a building of low maintenance, highly visible, secure from weather, with waiting area, toilets, facilities for on site surveillance, and a clear vision from inside of all activities outside. The resulting building answers all these requirements with a striking steel glass and off form concrete structure, standing handsomely beside the Eastern Freeway in Doncaster.
