Austech Foamlar used in Antarctic Project

PRODUCT

Foamular Extruded Polystyrene

Foamular Extruded Polystyrene has been used for the Davis Station Living quarters for the Australian Antarctic Division.  The sector of the Australian government chose to use the product  for its high performance as insulation, which has been labelled as a 'super insulated building' after receiving an Engineers Australia Award for Excellence.  The living quarters have chosen the most effective and advanced products for the harshest conditions, Foamular being one of the products.

The insulation system has an R-value of 3.80 in temperatures of -10oC with a 100mm Formular Extruded Polystyrene.  Foamular Extruded Polystyrene qualities which earned the product the award include sound engineering  practice, economical, contribution to a safe and healthy work environment.  Because of the thermal qualities the little heating and cooling aids is needed, minimising the carbon footprint.

Working with Foamular, super-insulated windows with two panes of glass, heat mirrors and a krypton gas-filled air space, the Davis station is a highly successful insulated structure.
