New South Wales residents will have the chance to explore some of the state’s best green and environmentally sustainable homes on Sustainable House Day, taking place on Sunday 17 September, 2017.
The national event, run by the not-for-profit organisation Alternative Technology Association (ATA), provides attendees the opportunity to view the latest developments and innovations in sustainable living while learning from homeowners and designers on how best to build and adapt their own eco-home.
A number of environmentally friendly homes will be open across the state, including South Coast Container House located in Long Beach and Prefabricated Folding House situated in Belmore.
Using four salvaged shipping containers, the South Coast Container House features insulated external cladding for thermal performance, 100 percent recycled HW doors and windows and zero VOC finishes.
The Prefabricated Folding House is a stand-alone tiny house prototype which is uniquely innovative in that all of its structural elements are completely constructed in a factory, folded down for cost-effective delivery and then folded out on site. The home has an amazing 8-star energy efficiency rating and is lined with all services in place ready for site connection.
All open homes have a minimum of three sustainable features, including energy saving and eco-friendly practices.
