    Len Wallis Audio: Individual Custom

The Len Wallis Audio (LWA) story is one of innovation and industry leadership writ large. Established in 1978 by founder and Principal Len Wallis, LWA has for over twenty five years served the audio industry with distinction, and has carved out a reputation for itself as a true world beater when it comes to audiovisual equipment and custom installation projects. But LWA has not always had it so good. Starting out, times were tough, especially when LWA was just a one man affair operating out of a small premises in Sydney’s Lane Cove. In these early days Len Wallis managed to survive by selling cassette decks, cathode ray television sets, and VCR recorders, and by nurturing his vision for the small suburban outfit as a cutting-edge audiovisual company respected worldwide. Twelve years later and Len Wallis’ dream was realised. In 1990 the UK’s High Fidelity Magazine named LWA “One of the five best hi-fi stores in the world” while in 2001 LWA was the first company outside of the United States to win the coveted CEDIA ‘Installer of the Year’. What Len Wallis had started as a small one man business had taken on the world - and won. Today, although LWA still sells amplifiers, speakers and even LP turntables in the retail store - reminders of the company’s small town roots - things have certainly changed. These days LWA is more well known as a global innovator than a suburban retailer - a providor of high-end audiovisual solutions and custom applications than of low tech items and a one size fits all approach. Superior performance display devices head up LWA’s extensive product range. Catering to all consumer needs, LWA offers Plasma and LCD screens as well as Digital Light Processing (DLP) Projectors for a genuine theatre experience that’s as suitable for boardrooms and restaurants as it is for household use. Amplification also features. Integrated, power and pre amplifiers facilitate audio choice while stereo receivers, surround processors, and surround receivers from leading brands such as Krell, Musical Fidelity and Yamaha make high quality multi-room sound a reality. LWA is also at the forefront of automated home control systems.Working off a single hand held device such as the RTI remote control this technology streamlines household product function. Creston Touch-Screens, AV2 Controllers and Clipsal Cbuses coordinate sound and video systems, lighting, air conditioning, security, garden irrigation and pool maintenance in a product suite that’s all about convenience - hassle free lifestyle at the touch of a button.

    Yamaha Modus

Yamaha have been making musical instruments as well as electronics for a long time now and although we have not in the past considered ourselves to be potential instrument suppliers, we were quick to change our mind after having recently spotted these funky keyboards.

These digital pianos not only look gorgeous, they can play music by themselves (there are 50 pre-set classical and jazz numbers) and when you do play them yourself, the key feel and the sound is extraordinary.
Based on Yamaha's famous and proven Clavinova technology these digital pianos are about as close as you can get to their acoustic counterparts. The piano 'voice' is sampled from Yamaha's famed CF111S concert grand, with a truly authentic realism. The keyboard uses real wood white keys to recreate as closely as possible the experience of playing an actual acoustic grand piano.
Some of the Modus Pianos are also networkable. Tap into the on-line Radio Service for Piano and you can listen to uninterrupted steaming of music on your piano. Alternatively connect a USB flash memory device and your favorite songs in midi format can be played as you recorded them or in a random order.

There are four piano's in the range:
The Yamaha MODUS F01 is an 'upright' design with a remarkably small footprint, yet boasts a full 88-note natural wood keyboard and a full-range professionally tuned speaker system. $8,999
The Yamaha MODUS F11 is the same design as the F01 with the added features of the USB input, streaming and moving keys. When playing from the onboard library or from external sources the keys move as if actually being played. $14,999
The Yamaha MODUS H01 is a more contemporary design with a very high level of finish, and is available in velvet rouge, amber glow and deep brunette. It features an 88-note natural wood keyboard, 3-level dynamic stereo sampling AWM (volume and timbre changing depending on playing touch), 64-note polyphony, 10 instrument voices, 3 pedals (damper with half-pedal effect, sostenuto and soft), and a built-in 40W sound system. $12,999
The Yamaha MODUS H11 is based on the H01 above with the addition of the USB input, streaming and moving keys. $18,999.
