Dear Andrew, One of the major challenges I faced, while converting my rumpus room into a home cinema, was sound proofing. The existing room’s walls were so bad, that you could go into the room, shut the door and speak in a normal voice to someone outside the room, and be heard succinctly. I didn’t want to go to the cost of tearing down the walls, insulating them and then re-building them. I was almost resigned to living with a cinema the whole house be able to hear, when I came across Green Glue. Now I must admit that a few people warned me that it sounded “gimmicky” and would never work, but I have decided to give it a try. I decided to add another layer of 10mm plasterboard and to stick it to the existing wall using Green Glue. Well, now at last the cinema is finished, and I can report on the benefits of using Green Glue. To put it simply, the difference is astounding. I am now able to play my movies at a high volume, and all that can be heard outside the room is an indistinct murmur. As for those dreaded bass notes that seemed to be everywhere in the house prior to the conversion, they are gone! The cost? About 25% of the quotes I got to tear down and rebuild the walls with insulation. If anyone is looking for an easy way to soundproof a room I recommend Green Glue very highly.
