A water feature is always a beautiful addition to any landscaping project, and also feature prominently in oriental feng shui garden formats. But water features aren't exactly sustainable with water as scarce as it is, especially in the ACT. This is why the Islands and Eddies "water" feature that forms the central focal point of the Central Linear Park in Gungahlin Town Centre is so genius: it is actually made from CrystalPave crushed glass decorative paving systems from MPS Paving Systems Australia. "Water restrictions prevented us from designing and installing a water feature favoured by the local community," said landscape architect Paul Bombardier of dsb Landscape Architects. "So the concept behind the feature was to provide an abstract expression of that desire." The installation uses an ingenious combination of recycled, coloured glass and a UV stable resin binder, mixed and trowelled to form a durable pure glass surface that looks just like an oriental water garden.
