History

Beginning in 1996, BT bamboo flooring has a long record of providing top shelf domestic and commercial installations. The bamboo is especially imported from forests in the Chinese provinces of Hunan, Jiangxia and Fujian, forests and is under the control of Chinese Department of Forestry. The Chinese Department of Forestry supervises the collection of the bamboo so that, non-toxic chemicals are used when the bamboo is treated and the techniques of harvest are monitored in order for the natural ecosystem to remain and for the re-growth or self-regeneration of the bamboo.  The bamboo is renewable and treated with non-hazardous chemicals, such an approach contributes to ECO flooring’s portfolio of products that environmentally friendly.

Eco flooring has supplied BT bamboo flooring to a number of well known commercial sites. Their customers include Lend Lease HQ (30 The Bond), Ripcurl, Google HQ NSW, Nestle HQ NSW, Lexus NSW, Port Douglas Mirage Resort QLD, Orlando Jacob’s Creek Wine Centre SA, Xanadu Winery WA, and Croc Shoes NSW. Eco Flooring takes pride in their involvement in 5/6 star rated green projects, such as Lend Lease HQ.

Product

Unlike floating timber flooring which is usually made up of millimeter thick wood veneer, bamboo is made as one solid, making it much harder to damage and far more durable.  The bamboo does not need to be replaced just resurfaced and this means that is can last for an additional 5 to 10 years.  BT flooring comes in different atmospheric colours including light sand and carbonated amber or the hand stair coated bright white, French white and chocolate, all of which retains original colour and are unique to the product.

What makes ECO Floorings BT Bamboo different from other bamboo is the amount of attention given to each piece. The bamboo is hand selected and only harvested when it has fully matured, between 3 to 4 years of age, and because of the amount of care provided the chances of defects are highly minimal. In addition, the company guarantees that if the bamboo is found to have a defect during the installation than it will not be installed.  BT Bamboo flooring has ensured the quality of their products by conducting experiments that look at the strength of the flooring in different angles. These tests include strength against timber, surface tests, maintenance, manufacturing techniques, flammability and finishing techniques. The flooring is known for its resistance against dents, when a 5.08 centimeter ball weighing 535 grams was dropped from a height of 6 feet it only caused an indentation of 0.068 millimeters. Such attention to detail results in highly durable flooring, which is able to withstand the natural elements as well as dents from shoes.

Process

The BT bamboo flooring process of manufacture can take up to 10 years, which secures the quality. After being hand picked the bamboo is machined into flat strips that are then tongued, grooved and end-matched.  Then it is treated with non-toxic products beneficial to the environment and the health of those who have chosen BT Flooring.  The bamboo can be installed on existing timber floors, concrete floors, plywood or particleboard.
