Since 2003, Lafarge Plasterboard’s AcoustiShield has been specified by architects and interior designers for ceiling linings in education, health, retail and entertainment buildings. The increasing demand for high performance in noise absorption and quality aesthetics in ceiling design in all building sector specifications in Australia has led to an increased choice of patterns. The distinctive patterns of round, square and rectangular board perforations available from Lafarge Plasterboard complement every interior ambience, with the most popular being the square pattern.
AcoustiShield is the only perforated plasterboard, available in the Australian market, to achieve a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 0.85 when used in a 100mm plenum. It has a protective fibreglass mat which as well as contributing to the NRC, has the additional benefit of maintaining a healthy environment by preventing dust and fibre emissions.
Style and functionality are equally important in designing buildings today and for this reason the range of applications and projects where AcoustiShield is now specified and installed includes schools, shopping centres, restaurants, hospitals, libraries, lecture theatres and car showrooms. With the growth in home theatres today, it is more and more often requested and specified for residential buildings. Architects specify AcoustiShield for its NRC but homeowners in turn have been delighted with not only the sound absorption properties but also the quality, unique look of the finished design within the home.
Recent projects include the Justice Precinct in NSW, Sestriere office fitout in Victoria, Redcliffe Hospital in Queensland and over 6500m2 of AcoustiShield has been installed in Media House, a 6 star Green Star project currently in construction in Melbourne.
