With incandescent lightbulbs going the way of the dodo, to be replaced by low-energy alternatives, architects and building designers also started looking for an eco-friendly alternative to energy-hungry halogen downlights. In response to this demand, Hotbeam has released the CeeLux HB13, a light fitting that produces light equivalent to a 35-watt halogen bulb, while consuming only 13 watts of power. Because it is a 240-volt fitting, the CeeLux HB13 requires no transformers, thus reducing the number of parts and the number of things that can go wrong (often in the case of a failing halogen downlight, it is actually the transformer that needs replacing).
The CeeLux HB13 comes in either a 40° or 60° beam angle and either 3000k or 3500k warm white colour temperature, all models sharing the same attractive, unobtrusive anodised aluminium face. When installed in the ceiling, the CeeLux HB13 will be water resistant to IP65. This means the CeeLux HB13 can be used in kitchens and bathrooms where steam is not uncommon. With this waterproof quality, the CeeLux HB13 can also be installed outdoors under eaves.
Hotbeam has a comprehensive lineup of commercial and architectural LED fittings, all of which produce the same light output as traditional 10w to 50w halogen bulbs. Difference being, Hotbeam’s products use a fraction of the power and stay cool in the process. Hotbeam’s high-brightness Ribbon Series is another efficient alternative to halogens, providing a highly flexible low-profile lighting source, with adhesive thermal tape for easy installation. Hotbeam even have a waterproof LED Ribbon for outdoor use, which, along with Hotbeam’s Solarbrick and Groundflasher range, provide reliably bright, energy-efficient lighting outside as well as in.
