Classic Building Agencies is the leading thermo-reflective insulation supplier in New South Wales and has agencies right throughout Australia. The group have successfully sourced Polyair, a unique three-in-one thermal, radiant and vapour barrier. Significantly improving the thermal performance of buildings, Polyair is a simple and effective technology for reducing power usage and emissions. It is recognised as a high performance insulation that counts towards BASIX points and certification or equivalent sustainability assessment schemes.
Polyair doesn’t work like standard mass insulation, which was designed to counter the effects of convection and conduction but provide no protection against radiant heat loss. Yet up to 75% of the heat loss in buildings is due to radiation. Polyair has been designed to minimise this heat loss, with two outer layers of aluminium foil reinforced with a woven mesh, bonded to an inner core of polyethylene bubbles. The top layer of foil reflects 97% of radiant heat in summer, while the bottom layer reflects convected heat downward, for warmth in winter. The bubbles in the middle help stop the heat on the top from passing through to the bottom, keeping the bottom cooler in summer and warmer in winter. This is called conductional resistance.
The Polyair product range includes “One”, for specialised installations where one reflective air space exists, for an interior finish, or for under-flooring to prevent external elements like wind and moisture from entering. “Sound”, with a semi ridged polyethylene core, is useful where specific acoustic performance is required, while “Super” has a high R-value of 2.7.
For numerous residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural applications, including existing and new roofs, walls and under floors, Polyair has a great many advantages. It is preferred by installers and building owners because it is safe to handle, with no health risks, no itch or allergy, and no carcinogens. It is also lightweight and easy to install, working especially well in limited spaces. Compliant with all Australian standards, Polyair is suitable for livestock, agriculture, and packing structures, as well as the food and beverage industry, where temperature regulation is critical.
Once installed, Polyair is maintenance free and promises years of comfort, with a fifteen-year warranty. It has a non-corrosive surface, is waterproof and flame retardant, condensation and bacteria free, fungi resistant, and repellent to rodents, birds and insects.
