Recognised for its innovation with a Telstra award in 2004, protective coatings manufacturer Shieldcoat has been making specialised roof and roof refurbishment coatings for nearly ten years. Their Roofbond Roof Restoration system has been used on thousands of Australian roofs, industrial and residential, both to bring them back to their former glory and to seamlessly tie them in with new and existing installations.

Shieldcoat is widely known in Australia for their highly respected Roofbond Flexible Pointing product for fixing down ridge caps to concrete tiles. It is the most user friendly flexible pointing on the market and is the specified product made under license for Boral Roofing in NSW and CSR Monier in South East Queensland.

Unlike other systems, Roofbond is suitable for refurbishments of all roof types, even asbestos, which was previously considered too risky or difficult to recoat. The Roofbond system is not a general-purpose paint - it is engineered specifically for use on roofs. The resin used is highly resistant to UV breakdown, making it a pure acrylic that has long-lasting colour retention, very high levels of gloss and excellent adhesion.

The most innovative product within the Roofbond system is Thermobond HRC. It is a water-based acrylic coating that drastically reduces heat ingress through roofs by refracting the infra-red element of sunlight. The need for air-conditioning for most buildings and homes will be reduced by at least 24%. It comes in nine standard colours, satisfying equally both aesthetic and functional needs.
