Super-Human Strength

OneSteel’s DuraGal® proved its superior strength during the making of Superman Returns at Fox Studios in Sydney. As the Man of Steel gave it all he’s got, he was confident the floor would match his strength with whatever he threw at it during his on-screen fight to bring justice to the streets of Metropolis. Built to withstand a 7.5kPa live load, the 600 square metre floor was built from the DuraGal Flooring System®. Installation was performed by Steel-Line Floors, and director George Carter said his company worked with DuraGal® for its cost-effectiveness, strength, ease of construction and versatility. “The Fox Studios job was a large, flat space with wheelchair and loading ramps,” Mr Carter said. “We had to match the floor to the existing surface of the production area and DuraGal® was perfect for what we wanted to achieve. “The product arrived on site in lengths, we cut it to size and installed it.”

DuraGal® is easily assembled on virtually any building site, requiring only an electric screw gun and metal cut off saw. No site welding is required, and a full range of accessories is available including the adjustable top connector, which allows for the pier height to be adjusted before or after installation. A greater span between piers allows for more useable space in the sub-floor area. This ease of assembly means less site time, therefore lower onsite costs, and DuraGal® steel sections will not warp, twist or rot, and steel cannot be eaten by termites.
