Methven’s mission: to create a showerhead that is as serious about water conservation as it is about luxury, and a showering experience that is as gorgeously indulgent as it is genuinely eco-friendly. Impossible? Not quite.
With the multi-award winning Satinjet Shower from Methven Australia, quality performance and environmental responsibility are competing objectives no longer - harmonised in what represents a substantial advancement in shower technology.
Methven started the Satinjet line with two main ranges - the Futura and the slightly more directional Genesis. Just newly released is the Kiri Range. A slim and minimalist range of wall showers specially designed to suit the needs of the commercial market (see line drawings below).
At DesignEx Methven will launch a completely new shower system: Ora. This sophisticated vision of simplicity will be a revolution in the market of showers because the system itself will come with a range of clever and practical technical solutions.
The water saving credentials of the Satinjet ranges are impressive. Where a standard shower runs at 20L per minute and will use 145.4L of water, Satinjet runs at 7.5L or 9L (depending on the model) per minute, using on average only 60 L over the same period – a water saving of approximately 80- 91L. These calculations are based on an average shower time for women of 7.27 minutes, as researched by Energy Australia.
Impressive water saving is the result of innovative Twin-jet technology. Pairs of water jets are directed to collide into each other, breaking the surface tension of each jet to create a cascade of soft droplets. All this on a maximum water rate of 9L per minute.
A host of international awards including a 2005 Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award and a 2005 Australian Designmark Award for Good Design testify to Satinjet’s seemless fusion of water efficiency with aesthetics. Further, it has been awarded three stars in the recently introduced Australian WELS water ratings – the top rating possible and scientific acknowledgement of its environmental responsibility.
Strong on design and eco-sustainability the shower also luxuriates. Most ranges display two functions – Satinjet spray and deep tissue massage – alternate settings reflective of individual mood that turn a daily necessity into a momentary indulgence, and both capable of issuing a cascade of up to 3000 water droplets per second.
Luxury is matched by versatility. Easy height adjustment allows both short and tall family members to adjust the rail shower to suit them, enabling hair to be kept dry when desired or out of direct contact with water. Further, the removable handset allows spray to be directed where desired, enabling muscle massage and improved personal hygiene. Other functional advantages include a fully flexible shower arm and shower head, easy positioning with no tightening required, a guarantee against dropping or leaking, no drilling of tiles for all wall shower models, and a one-handed push button spray.
